Ovoviviparous

This is a fun one to pronounce: OH-voh-v-EYE-vip-or-US. This word means that an animal produces young through eggs, but instead of laying eggs in a nest, the eggs hatch INSIDE the parent! This phenomenon is common in sharks, rays, and snakes. The image below shows a GREAT diagram of all the different ways that sharks can reproduce.
