Day 1 of Expedition, PM

Journal Entry 6

Now that we have arrived and settled into our headquarters – a very spacious, historical home in the city of Homestead – I am once again pondering my emotions and thoughts about the next few days. The novelty, all the NEW, on this trip is astounding. A new city, a new living space, new experience, some new faces. My comfort zone will be of no use to me on this trip. While I have snorkeled and kayaked before, I have never visited this region of Florida, nor explored a marine focused national park. We are scheduled to visit Biscayne National Park tomorrow and Everglades National Park the next day. I hope to take advice from the sponges I’ve seen in Tarpon Springs and absorb EVERYTHING I can in these next few days.

I doubt I will be able to rest easily tonight, but again, I am glad that I share such feelings of excitement and nervousness (and now living space) with my companions.
