Maybe you see some trees that look fuzzy
That tree looks like he has hair, doesn’t he?
That isn’t hair, growing from that branch
Those are called epiphytes

A special kind of plants
They grow on other things
Like rocks, trees, and wood
They don’t always grow in dirt
As you think they should
When I see epiphytes, living on an oak
I change the tree’s name to “fuzzy tree”, as a little joke
It helps me remember why the tree looks odd
So keep an eye out for more as you hike along!
